PARVO VIRUS: Also known as Parvo, is a highly contagious viral disease of dogs which causes vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Parvo is a common disease which is often fatal, but an effective vaccine is available.

FELINE LEUKEMIA: is a contagious viral disease of cats. FELV is also common in our area and destroys the immune systems of infected cats. The vaccine for FELV is approximately 90% effective when given property.

FLEAS AND TICKS: Can now be treated more effectively than ever before. Your veterinarian can prescribe topical treatments that kill fleas and ticks for a month at a time. Ticks are especially dangerous as they transmit Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Tick Paralysis and other diseases,

OVER THE COUNTER and human drugs can sometimes be harmful to your pet; check with your vet before using any medication on your animal.

THOUSANDS OF PETS DIE each year from being trapped in hot cars. The temperature in a car parked in the sun can rise to a fatal level in minutes; never leave pets or children unattended for even a few minutes.

THE HUMANE SOCIETY will be happy to help you find a lost pet, just call them and they will include your pet in newspaper and radio ads they regularly place.

A COLLAR AND NAME TAG on every pet will help people bring your animal home if they are ever lost or strayed.

ANIMALS WHO ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED live longer and healthier lives than those who are not. They COST LESS to keep because they have fewer car accidents, fights and diseases.

UNWANTED PUPPIES AND KITTENS ARE FOUND IN DUMPSTERS and alongside the road routinely. They are brought to the Humane Society covered in fleas and ticks, crawling with worms and carrying every conceivable disease. Unwanted animals often suffer horribly before dying: PLEASE spay and neuter your pet. EVERYBODY DESERVES TO BE LOVED.

THE MACON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY NEEDS YOUR HELP. We operate because YOU CARE. Donations and thrift store sales provide most of the money we use to run the shelter every year. You can give money, or volunteer to help at the shelter or thrift store.

Note to High School Students:  your volunteer hours at the shelter may give you credit toward your required community service hours needed to graduate.

DONATE using , the secure and rapid way of giving the animals the help they need.

Thank you for your generosity!
